Although this pilot never made it to air, Second Guessers had elements that were eventually used in Card Sharks and Street Smarts. This game involved members of the studio audience trying to guess the answers people on the street would give to cute questions. Funnyman (and we use the term loosely) Jack Carter helmed the game from the studio, Jack Clark asked the questions from the field, while a celebrity helped in the guessing in the studio.
On this particular episode, Jack Clark alternated asking questions from either the Miami Seaqarium and the Miami International Airport. Fresh from her appearance in Midnight Cowboy, Brenda Vaccaro played the celebrity role. With an audience of over 1,000! people, Jack Clark was sent out to ask a question such as "Would you forgive your husband if he cheated on you?" Brenda would opine whether the majority of five people would answer the question one way or another, and a "second guesser" from the audience would either agree or disagree with Ms. Vaccaro. If the audience member was right, they would win a prize such as a TV set or a movie camera.
And there lies the problem. They asked six questions, and that was the game. Nothing else. No bonus game, no final question, no competition between various members of the audience. This concept can work if it's done well (as in Street Smarts). And even the show was supposed to be a weekly prime-time affair, I doubt they could get a 1,000 person audience week after week. If you look in the picture gallery to the right, some members of the studio audience couldn't even sit through the credits they wanted to get out of there so bad.
